Like others before me I have traded in my vinyl and gone totally digital. In the words of the original Laptop DJ, “Ableton Live allows [me] to have total control over the music [I] play. It’s not necessarily better this way, but definitely suits [me] more…” (Shane54).
- However, contrary to popular trend I do not draw my sets using Ableton Live, I use the M-Audio X-session Pro to produce a live mix. Warping tracks allows me to concentrate on the art of performance instead of beat-matching, pitching, etc. What can I say, Shane54’s (and now Mr. Judge Jules and PVD) style has revolutionized my DJ’ing.
